Working Together to make a difference

Welcome to Tangi Animal Friends, a non-profit animal organization to promote animal welfare in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana.

We are a group of volunteer members who work to serve the animals of our community and their owners in various manners, including education and setting up low cost spay/neuter programs throughout Tangipahoa Parish, particularly the Hammond and Ponchatoula areas. We provide assistance in the forms of vet vouchers, food for pets, and networking with other animal agencies to help animals in need in any way we can.

Zeuterin trainingAs part of the effort to reduce the number of unwanted animals, area veterinarians have been introduced to "zeutering," a new FDA-approved non-surgical procedure for male dogs that some say will become the new standard in pet neutering.

The procedure was presented to local veterinarians and animal advocates in May at the first Louisiana-held zeutering event, sponsored by Friends of the Shelter and Ark Sciences, Inc., of Westchester, N.Y.

The training session included hands-on practice, with 37 dogs being neutered by attending vets.
